Shooting Begins on The Real Macbeth: A Documentary

A Collaborative Project

The Real Macbeth Project was set up as a collaboration between Cameron Taylor (Co-author of On the Trail of the Real Macbeth, with Alistair Murray), Paul Johnson (local entrepreneur), Alex Wright & Sara Brockbank (Flying Mirrors) and Dave Barr (barrd.dev).

Macbeth: Shakespeare's Drama

Shakespeare's tragic drama, Macbeth, has been performed on stage all over the world and has been the subject of countless adaptations and interpretations. Justin Kurzel's 2015 movie starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard provides a gritty Hollywood interpretation of Shakespeare's play, set in the dramatic landscape of mediƦval Scotland.

But alas, the tale told here is fiction, rather than the true story of one of Scotland's greatest kings.

We plan to put the record straight and tell the story of The Real Macbeth, set in the inspiring landscapes of the ancient Province of Moray and the Kingdom of Alba.

A Little History Of Our Own

The site began in 2015 as The Real Macbeth Dot Com, built using WordPress with WooCommerce for its shop. After ten years, we chose to archive the project; it now exists as a simplified static version without the shop or blog.

All the original historical information is still intact and links to the remaining available products can be accessed in the footer of every page. If you'd like to contact us you can do so using:

We hope you enjoy your stay here and find the site useful, informative and fun.

All the best,
The Real Macbeth Team.

About The Project

After a realisation of a shared interest in Scottish history, and Macbeth in particular, Alex & Sara Wright of Flying Mirrors collaborated with Cameron Taylor (known locally as Mr. Macbeth) from Moray Speyside Tourism, Paul Johnson (local entrepreneur) and Dave Barr of barrd.dev to create a documentary on The Real Macbeth. This is the associated website.
